Are Dogs Still Seen As Tough Guards?
One purpose of a “Beware of the Dog” sign is to scare off intruders and thieves. It’s like telling them that there’s a scary dog here that will bite if you cross over the property uninvited.
But what happens when one sees a cat sleeping, oh, so peacefully at a place where there’s a “Beware of the Dog” sign? One thought would be that the dog is really friendly with cats. And that’s good!
Another thought would be that the sign is just a play to distract thieves and intruders. And that’s… not so good. Thieves and intruders won’t fall for it.
This sign gives great lengths to human-and-dog communication! It’s another reason why the dog is man’s best friend indeed.
